I mixed all my foundations together and this is what I got
I was recently surfing through YouTube and I came across this girl’s channel (Safiya Nygaard) and video of hers that caught my attention; she mixed all her foundations together to essentially make a new one; if you know you already know my deep love for foundation… I love it… it is my favourite makeup item. I currently possess about 20 bottles of the stuff and use them on rotation. Additionally, if there was only one makeup item that I was allowed to try and test it would most certainly be foundation… if you asked me to pick concealer over foundation what would I say? Foundation… if you asked me to pick food or foundation… I would probably say food lol…. But you understand my love no?
Okay so we get it, Satveer loves foundation and if mixing all my existing ones gave me a new, possibly ‘holy grail’ foundation 💙 I am saying, “heck yeah” to that. So I mixed all my liquids together and I wanted to give you all a rundown of how my experience went down.
First off, that colour that I got was great, a fraction too dark however, I much prefer it to be too dark than too light since it is easier to bring light with concealer than it is to make your foundation look darker with bronzer; for me it was most important that the tone, which should be olive for me, was correct because in my opinion as long as the tone is correct you can make it work, in most cases.
So, I applied my foundation after I applied a moisturiser and primer, as I always do after all my foundations every day; I did this to give the mixture a fair chance since moisturiser and primer is the preface for my foundation routines. I halved my face and applied my foundation with two different tools.
As you can see in the picture I applied one half with a brush and one half with a beauty blender. After doing both, I much prefer this foundation with a brush. With a brush, it gives a smoother fuller coverage look. The beauty blender does not give as full coverage look yet I do not, not like it… if you know what I mean.
The finish of the foundation reminds me a lot like the Estee Lauder double wear, yet with a little glow, therefore being a perfect finish. Also, although it gave a natural glow I was able to powder bronze without powder foundation… it blended very well on top. As for the colour and tone, it looked great too; it was dark enough to match my neck as my face is lighter than my body. Overall the foundation gave me a full coverage matte look with a glowy sheen along with great colour and tone. 💙💙💙💙💙
In regards to wear time not only did it look the DW it also wore like the double, however I did not sleep in it to put it to a real test, as many have done and looked exactly the same the next day, in the DW. I put the foundation on at 8:00 in the morning and checked in with photos at 22:27 to be exact.
As you can see there in much wear yet you can see my marks a little. Overall after being on for 14 hours, I feel as though the foundation held up very well as it did not break up, it just wore away, also 14 hours is a long time especially since I had been out at work, staring at a computer screen all day.
Overall, this was well worth doing and I cannot wait to do it again because of the positives, not to mention actually mixing them was fun. I give this experiment and foundation a 5 out of 5 starts.
